If you have read the previous entry, you’ll remember I mentioned that “there’ll be changes in June”… and since the teachers have already announced this to the main band, it is therefore my responsibility to make sure my fellow alumni’s not missing out on the recent happenings of the main band.
The big change for June 2008 will be that…
… Ms Tay, the main band teacher I/C will be leaving. She will be leaving the teaching scene to pursue her dreams and aspirations in other career track.
While we wish her all the very best in her future endeavours, let us consider at the impact her leaving might have on the band:
- The band has been, for a long time, over reliant on our capable and devoted teachers to run things for them. Our teachers have been doing way too much for us and our girls aren’t exactly appreciative beings. Are they?
- The band morale will be affected.
- The new batch of EXCO have just stepped up. They need guidance.
With the above pointers, perhaps the whole point of TRAILBLAZE 2008 will come to light a little more. We, as an alumni body, need to be there for our juniors. As such, the objectives of Games Day 2008 will be:
- To allow the recruit band to interact and know their seniors
- For members of the main band to forge closer ties with one other through games
- For the alumni committee to be a positive example to the new EXCO
- An avenue for the alumni band to serve SMSB
- To provide an opportunity for alumni, teachers & instructors to share what is on their hearts
It is my hope, that by now, you will better understand why I am pretty serious about making TRAILBLAZE 2008 a success. It is not a mini get together for everyone. There are objectives we need to strive to achieve for the band. It is a event to SERVE, not PLAY.
And perhaps, this might put things in a better perspective:
A bigger change awaits us all at the end of the year. (We’ll plan something else for that)
Noah didn’t build the ark in a day! We need to start now!

The band knows about it already. Anyway, we will be having a farewell party thing for Ms.Tay. Was just wondering if the seniors would want to join.
It will probably be this coming friday (23 May) 4 pm.
It is either that or the coming Monday (26 May) 2pm.
