Gearing Up

Well, by now, EVERYONE should know about Mr Tan and his leaving. It’s sad to know it is really happening now, as compared to the previous year/months of speculating the gossips. Current alumni still playing in bands, I bet you’ve been hearing things about this issue among your band friends.

So, fellow alumni of the polka-dotted club, I’ll like to urge you to join forces [sounds so Star Wars-like] with Hazel, Kristen and Kellyn as they plan up the activities and stuff for the farewell in late December. Do send Kristen your favourite band photos, those ‘precious moment’ photos and videos. Also include a short message to Mr Tan and we’ll add that into the video as well. I’m not sure if we’ll be playing during the farewell. If we do, it’ll prob be in a rush. Hazel will speak to the band teacher-i/c to see when we can borrow the band room for our practices.

Alumni, it’s time we come together. If not now, I don’t know when else.

He has taught and inspired us all to love music a little more than before.
It’s high time we show him how much we love him too. (:

Feel free to comment on this post, anything related to your band memories. Even events that happened in Sydney or funny incidents in the band room. Let’s all bask in the memory of our wonderful Polka-dotted band days and re-live them together yea? (:

Facebook Group created

Hey everyone! :D

Alright, I just created a facebook group and hope that all St. Margaret’s Winds members out there who has a facebook account would join us there! Well, as usual, announcements would be posted here (mainly by Shufeng) still, and the facebook group would serve as a platform for our members to continue interacting.

For those who are still in tertiary bands, you can also make advertisements for your concert there. It’s an interactive ground open to all of us. I guess all forms of conversation/discussion would be fine except for explict ones. Or unless our president Ms Seow would like to make changes to how the group should be run. (:

Apologies

Sincere apologies for this long outdated post.

June holidays have come and gone and… TRAILBLAZE did not happen! Due to some administrative deficiency, TRAILBLAZE will be postponed to the end of year holidays. This does not mean that we dedicated alumni sit around aimlessly. Our juniors still need our constant nagging and support through the changes in school and in band! More changes lie ahead and we will need to face them together with our juniors.

The school term has started and I’ve finally began my teaching career as a music specialist in a certain Secondary School (The school shall not be named for safety reasons) and my schedule is getting packed up. As such, I will to urge you younger people (I’m so old…) to rise up and plan TRAILBLAZE. It’s hard for me to spearhead and handle all the admin matters alone. I will be more than willing to input my ideas and share my experience. But I need help in actualizing this project of ours. It is my dream that TRAILBLAZE becomes an annual event for the band, organized by the alumni.

So…Enough said.. If you and your friends are interested in taking up this challenge, contact me. It’s going to be rewarding- I know it. :)
